Event Details

This is a Collective group formed from several bandleaders (and composers), to highlight the work and opportunities provided by the MJC. It was an initiative of tenor saxophonist Mirko Guerrini, who (like some other Collective members) migrated to Melbourne from Italy after several visits here (when he performed for the MJC) because of the strong jazz scene here. Drummer Niko Schauble moved here around 3 decades ago, and has been a key creative contributor to Melbourne’s jazz scene, while bassist Sam Anning has been an ubiquitous figure since relocating from Perth (via a substantial stint in New York). Other members are guitarist Stephen Magnusson, trombone player James Macaulay and trumpeter Stephen Grant. It will be a terrific occasion where to showcase some of the most talented jazz musicians Melbourne has to offer. For this concert they will perform new originals written and arranged by Mirko Guerrini.

Mirko Guerrini – saxes, composition

Stephen Grant – trumpet

James Macaulay – trombone

Stephen Magnusson – guitars

Joseph O’Connor – piano

Sam Anning – double bass

Niko Schauble – drums
