Formed in 1990, the JOHN MONTESANTE QUINTET (or JMQ) is a stylish, horn-led modern Jazz combo, with a penchant for bebop, modern trumpet and wide-ranging jazz standards.

The JMQ features some of Melbourne’s finest Jazz players including the regular line up, Michael Harding (piano), Dean Cooper (drums), Ben Robertson (double bass), John Montesante (trumpet & flugel), Tony Hicks (saxophone), along with outstanding guest vocaliists such as Tamara Kuldin, Elly Hoyt, Nichaud Fitzgibbon, Rebecca Mendoza, Fem Belling, Samantha Morley, Yvette Johansson, Miriam Waks, May Johnston, Rod Gilbert, Julie O’Hara, Andrew Swann, Daina Jowsey, Sarah MacKenzie, Wilbur Wilde, Jeff Duff, Kimba Griffiths & others.
