Ennio Morricone is acclaimed as one of the most innovative composers of the twentieth century. He composed music that was commercially accessible to a universal audience without renouncing his experimental or contemporary compositional techniques. His use of unconventional instrumentation and the use of the human voice as a melodic instrument is an integral part of his unrelenting determination to find a unique sound for each score.

Joined on this occasion by jazz heavyweight Darrin Archer at the piano, Mirko Guerrini and Ilaria Crociani, will lead us on a journey to discover and celebrate Ennio’s genius and personal quest to uniqueness. Leaving aside his most famous western movies melodies, our hosts will focus on the jazz-influenced, psychedelic, progressive and adventurous side of Ennio Morricone’s film music from the late 60s to the early 80s to reveal to us some of the composing stratagems which make his music as immediately recognisable as absolutely stunning.
